Ordinances are city regulations enacted by City Council to promote the peace, safety, health, and well-being of all members of the community.
Abandoned Vehicles
Vehicles that are left unattended upon any property open to the public for 72 hours, or are left on private property without the property owner's permission, are considered abandoned and may be removed by the Police Department.
Call the Police Department at 513-229-8560 during regular business hours to report abandoned vehicles.
Burning Trash
The burning of trash within city limits is prohibited.
Curfew
Curfew hours for all persons under the age of eighteen years are in effect Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.; and Friday and Saturday from midnight to 6:00 a.m. Parents are held responsible for the curfew violations of minor children.
Door-to-Door Solicitations
Vendors who are not tax-exempt are required to register with the Mason Police Department for any sale or solicitation in the city, to honor any "No Solicitation" signs posted, and to solicit only during permitted hours. Applications and information are available by calling 513-229-8560 or at www.imaginemason.org.
False Alarms
False Alarms are a tremendous drain on limited police resources. City ordinance defines a false alarm as an alarm signal that necessitates a response by the police or fire department when an emergency situation does not exist.
If more than one false alarm occurs within six months, the owner of the property will be fined $50. For additional false alarms within the 6-month period, the fine increases by $50 for each occurrence.
Firearms
The discharge of any firearm, cannon, pistol, or dangerous ordinance within city limits is prohibited.
Fireworks
City ordinance and state law prohibit the possession, sale, or discharge of fireworks within city limits. The sponsor of all public fireworks displays within the city must first apply for approval from the Fire Chief and the Police Chief.
Illegal Dumping
To preserve the attractiveness of the city and improve water quality in local streams, no one is permitted to dump any solid waste material into any catch basin, storm sewer, local creek, or water basin. Waste material includes human and / or pet waste, leaves, brush, automotive fluids, garbage, or other objectionable waste. If you believe someone may be in violation of this ordinance, please call police dispatch at 513-925-2525 or the Mason Stormwater Engineer at 513-229-8520.

Any motor vehicle which meets any two of the following criteria is considered a junk vehicle:
-
Is three years or older
-
Is extensively damaged. Such damage includes but is not limited to missing wheels, tires, engine, or transmission.
- Is not operable. A vehicle is operable if it can be started and moved under its own power for a minimum of 100 feet.
Vehicles meeting two of these provisions must be housed or removed from the property to avoid being cited.

Mason property owners are required to keep all weeds and grass under 8 inches high. If tall vegitation has not been cut after notification from the city, the city will hire a contractor to mow the property. The property owner will be charged for the mowing.
